Kichic, Peru Hotel

Peru

Nine rooms, each one unique and created with local materials, are almost a work of art in themselves – Kichic would be a draw wherever it was in the world. That it’s in the surfer-cool Peruvian beach town of Máncora, on the far north of the country’s Pacific coast, only heightens its immense appeal. It’s the kind of place you want to go before anyone else you know does, just to make them jealous. A pool stretches across its front, to save you the bother of even getting to the sandy shore (albeit literally just in front of Kichic), and while you can try your hand at all types of surfing, there’s also daily yoga, whale- watching excursions and even private cinema on the beach. Food on your doorstep is top-class with ceviche naturally high on the agenda, and plenty of other good places nearby, but within the hotel itself, you’ll find both excellent plant-forward plates at the vegetarian joint and quality seafood with authentic flavours at the fish bar.

Doubles from £220.
