France
This idiosyncratic boutique hotel in the heart of Paris delivers on pied-à-terre style, homespun charm and the spirit of joie de vivre. Part guesthouse, part ‘confectionery shop’ – and entirely Parisian – this gem of a place is set in the evergreen La Marais district, close to the Musée Picasso and the area’s emblematic shops and cafés. Offering 22 rooms and suites, interiors champion French antiques, warm, calming hues and historic stone floors and exposed beams.
While attention to detail is assured, don’t expect frills and fuss – nothing here is overdone. A residential sentiment follows on the food front: breakfast is a locavorian affair with goods from the nearby bakery, while continental savouries and coffee are also from Parisian suppliers. For a sweet note, an apothecary-style cabinet of confections heroing city producers is on hand for in-room and on-the-go snacking.
Doubles from £198.
