Mondrian Shoreditch Hotel

England

Laying claim to the site that once held east London’s old Curtain Hotel, design-forward Mondrian comes with all the cool energy you’d expect of a Shoreditch address. But you don’t have to be a creative in your twenties to feel right at home. Evoking elevated Brooklyn stylings – raw brick walls, crittal windows, cosy caramels, corner- seat Chesterfields plus abundant greenery – this democratic crash pad welcomes all. An easy sentiment flows throughout: lobby bar Christina’s is the spot to lounge over a top-tier cocktail, there’s a rooftop pool for the summer months and conservatory- style Laurel’s serves up excellent breakfasts. Downstairs, lively BiBo is home to renowned chef Dani García’s menu of Spanish stalwarts. Start with small bites – the croquetas are some of the best we’ve tried – and follow it up with an iconic paella served tableside. On the bedroom front, while some come with balconies and lounges, even smaller rooms feel roomy. Better still, exemplary soundproofing ensures a perfect night’s sleep.
