Monsieur Didot Hotel

Greece

ROOM 4 THE SONNET 1

On the cusp of Athens’ Kolonaki and Exarchia neighbourhoods sits a neoclassical townhouse of blush pink and dusty blue: Monsieur Didot dates back to 1890 and, much like Athens itself, it’s a mosaic of Ancient Greek elegance and 21st-century comfort. For a hotel named after a typeface, it’s no surprise a literary theme runs through the six rooms, with individual libraries, bathrooms secretly hidden behind bookcases and rooms named The Sonnet and The Tale. Soaring ceilings, marble balconies, period fireplaces and ceramic lighting are offset by homely, handmade wooden furniture, houseplants and sunsoaked terraces. The prime location means the Acropolis, vineyard tours and Greek cookery classes are all on the agenda. Grab a fresh pastry and pomegranate juice before you set off.
