Portugal
Small and perfectly formed Pátio do Tijolo has recently thrown open its doors in Lisbon’s vibrant Bairro Alto district of Príncipe Real. Minimalist-chic by style, boutique by mantra, it offers 24 residential- style rooms conceived around an ethos of mindful living, tucked away behind a narrow passageway. Cue functional comfort, abundant white, serene natural materials (inspired by the historic surrounds) and plenty of well-considered art. It’s a harmonious scene based around a lush inner courtyard – with views overlooking the River Tagus – with laid-back communal spaces designed to foster a sense of bonhomie and shared experiences, from the lounge-salon to a shared kitchen that encourages guests to delve into local flavours.
