Switzerland
The latest addition to the contemporary Ruby Group is set in Zurich’s central Beatenplatz district, amid a string of trendy bars, boutiques and cool brunch spots alongside the Limmat river. Expect the now renowned Ruby ethos of laid-back luxury – and then some. Once the site of the city’s first cinema, it taps into the past with nods to Hollywood glamour most notably in the art deco bar – open at all hours to satisfy every late owl’s thirst – and lavish movie theatre, complete with peacock-blue velvet seating. Creatives will feel like the star of the show here with a sound-proof Director’s room, guitars for hire and Marshall speakers dotted throughout the 208 rooms. Old meets new too with film memorabilia proudly on display beside a buzzing neon light, while upstairs, rooms are designed with clean lines and whitewashed walls. Bathrooms subtly keep to the theme with Hollywood mirrors and, if you look down, scattered floor tiles spelling out showtime beckon you to the stage.
