20 High Street Broadway Cotswolds Worcestershire
The picturesque Cotswold village of Broadway has been hosting visitors ever since the 1600s, when the London stagecoaches stopped here en route to Worcester. In the middle of the pretty high street is Russell’s, a restaurant with rooms. Housed in the former headquarters and workshops of the Gordon Russell furnishing company, it’s every inch the country bolthole. The focal point is the restaurant, which serves dishes such as baba ghanoush, grilled razor clams and roast duck with star anise jus. To the side is The Workshop – a less formal place to eat. Head chef Damian Clisby uses local, seasonal produce wherever possible. Seven individually designed rooms have huge, squishy beds, exposed beams, roll-top baths and views over the high street and rolling hills beyond. Doubles from £198, including breakfast.
