Soho House Hotel

Barcelona

Spain’s second city is a superb pick for a weekend break at any time of the year and for a creative-cool crashpad, head to the Gothic Quarter and Soho House’s original Spanish outpost (the second is also in Barcelona, right on the beach). From its position on the corner of a leafy square, a quiet entrance reveals a grand, brick-clad lobby dressed in parquet and decorative textiles. Across the 57 bedrooms – which vary in size from ‘Tiny’ to ‘Large’ – expect a stylish and homely aesthetic. Soft, olive-green walls meet matador red and blue-jean rugs, while deco-style botanical curtains and dark-wood furniture ground the space. Elsewhere, expect a well-stocked minibar of house-made cocktails (go straight for the negroni), and signature antique-tiled bathrooms replete with at least seven full-sized Cowshed amenities. When you’ve had enough of following the Gaudí trail, G&Ts await beside the rooftop pool. From here, views across Port Vell marina go on for days. A number of plush bar and dining areas (including stalwart Italian Cecconi’s), a velvet-clad cinema and Turkish-style spa complete the look. Doubles from £216.
