The Bath Arms Hotel

Wiltshire

If it’s rural charm, a picturesque village setting and traditional British larder you’re looking for, a stay at The Bath Arms at Longleat is a no-brainer. Positioned on the doorstep of the acclaimed estate in Wiltshire, this country inn, dating back to 1736, offers all the above, plus a locally sourced menu from chef Jack Chapman.

Whether you’re happy to perch at the oak-lined bar snapping up deep-fried rabbit legs or prefer to nestle in a comfy nook with Brixham plaice and buttery Jersey Royal Potatoes, there are plenty of modern British stalwarts to sample. And the peaceful gardens are ideal for a spot of postprandial late summer sun – for best results try with a pint of local ale in hand.

On site, inviting bedrooms – some dog-friendly – are dressed in neutral tones with cosy rugs and modern artwork. You’ll find nature-inspired Bramley bathroom products created for the Beckford Group, of which the Bath Arms is the most recent addition.

Breakfast will set you up for the day and there’s plenty of opportunity nearby for your walking boots to see some action. Children will love a visit to Longleat Safari Park, and you might even hear a distant lion’s roar over your morning coffee.

Doubles from £110, including breakfast. 01985 844308, batharmsinn.com
