Channelling all the charm you’d want from a Big Easy bolthole, this 14-key pad sits pretty in New Orlean’s Uptown neighbourhood – north of the Mississippi and a few miles off the French Quarter’s tourist trail. A laid-back spirit pervades the Victorian mansion house, its modern vernacular of hospitality made manifest by owners well-versed in such drawl: LeBlanc + Smith, champions of neighbourhood-focused eateries and bars across the city. The on-site restaurant– all half-height linen drapes, floral banquettes and greenery – is emblematic of the concept, serving up-to-date plays on Southern comfort food and Creole classics. Elsewhere, design undulates from blonde wood, hessian and mid-century accents to parlours drenched in rich velvets and heritage hues. A vinyl collection inspired by the city provides lyrical backdrop, while rockers line the veranda in a vignette modernised by on-trend colourways and bistro tables. Bonus points go to the pool deck and bar, serving up mescal-forward libations.
