Berlin
In Berlin’s elegant and composed Charlottenburg, The Dean sidesteps any clichés of ‘artsy-cool’ design with an unfussy manner that doesn’t seek to intimidate, instead combining the city’s creative energy with the brand’s easy Irish warmth.
Set in a late-19th-century building and reworked by British designer Rachael Gowdridge with clean lines and pared-back interiors, the hotel feels immediately established and at ease, despite having opened only a few months ago. The focal point is Benedict, a lively all-day bakery and restaurant that draws as many locals as guests, with queues forming early for its various takes on eggs Benedict and house-baked breads.
Outside, Charlottenburg unfolds at an unhurried pace, with Kurfürstendamm and the leafy Tiergarten close by – easily reached on one of the hotel’s bikes.
