Beeley, Devonshire Square, Matlock, Derbyshire
Set among a cluster of 18th-century stone cottages, this very fine pub has eight rooms. As it’s located on the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire’s Chatsworth Estate, you’d expect something special. The interior is typical of a rural pub with low ceilings and open fires, while The Brasserie adds a contemporary feel. Chef/patron Alan Hill impresses with lobster almondine, tzatziki and home-dried tomatoes, and roast loin of estate lamb with crispy sweetbread and braised neck.Doubles from £134.
