The Hoxton, Southwark Hotel

Southwark, UK

Since its inception in 2006, The Hoxton’s empire has been shaking up the hotel scene with design-led pads attracting in-the-know creatives seeking a city weekender. Mastering cool-meets-cosy, the Southwark edition makes no exception. Across 192 rooms – ranging from Shoebox to Biggy – industrial-chic, loft-inspired interiors give a nod to local craftsmanship – the area was once home to glassblowing and tannery factories. Concrete ceilings, Crittall-style windows and exposed bricks are met with touches like ruby-red headboards, gold fixtures and plenty of artwork. It’s an ideal springboard into central London, with art galleries and South Bank landmarks within reach. After, pop back to The Hoxton’s rooftop Seabird – a plant-filled space with vistas spanning the river – to tuck into a lengthy oyster menu and creative cocktails. The next day, bustling Albie sets you up with great espresso and choice of brunch favourite.
