Lombok shows no signs of slowing down. When it comes to unspoilt natural beauty, this far-flung island has it all: from hidden white sand beaches and idyllic azure waters to wild forests dotted with mineral-rich waterfalls and even an impressive volcano – all without the crowds of neighbouring island Bali. It’s a sure hit for those seeking adventure and relaxation alike. Tapping into the trend is Marriott International, who are injecting tropical elegance into the relatively untouched north-west of the island. Opening this November, The Sira, a Luxury Collection Resort and Spa, Lombok will be the brand’s first property on the island. Standing on the edge of the palm-fringed shoreline, sandwiched between the divers’ paradise of Gili and Mount Rinjani volcano, the resort will house 60 all-ocean view suites and private pool villas. Other additions will include a 70m-long pool, a holistic spa, a trio of restaurants and a library bar.
