St Barth

Tropical St Barth 01 22 3371 FA

If the word ‘tropical’ conjures images of botanical prints, seascape murals, pastel hues and tiki-chic, retro-modern furniture, this playfully paradisiacal patch of the Caribbean is one for you. Recently made over by Oscar Ono, with the lush natural surrounds as a touchpoint, it’s cool yet surprisingly refined, a clear nod to St Barth’s luxe reputation. Split over two levels, the 24 boutique bedrooms – some with garden terraces, some pools – have a slightly colonial vibe, held together by a single inviting colourway. A series of verandas sprawl to a central terrace uniting the open-plan communal area.

At its heart is a convivial house bar, vibrant restaurant and airy alfresco space championing Med flavours and local ingredients all amped up by a Robata grill. Elsewhere, oversized loungers are strewn beside the pool speaking to Riviera-meets-Miami relaxation – though the Bay of Saint Jean is on-hand for less languid pursuits. It’s a sun-kissed sensation that will be hard to leave.
