Villa Le Blanc Gran Meliá Hotel

The sun-kissed Balearics are always a good idea – and with a crop of new hotels on the scene, there’s even more reason to visit. Opened last summer on the laid-back island of Menorca, eco-minded Villa Le Blanc Gran Meliá is at one with nature, set halfway between Mahón and Ciutadella on Santo Tomás Beach. Channelling pared-back luxury by design, the building is awash with white stonework and natural touchpoints, while a neutral colour palette drenches 159 rooms. Blending indoors and out, sea-facing balconies and terraces are part and parcel, with some rooms offering their own pool. Serene days see guests flit from horse riding along the beach to boat trips and snorkelling to poolside cocktails and sessions at the cutting-edge spa. There’s also scope to visit local artisan cheesemakers – though restaurant S’Amarador provides a solid overview of the island’s food scene too, with a menu championing Balearic fare and fishing culture that’s best enjoyed overlooking the water.
