Villa Santanyi Hotel

Mallorca

Design enthusiasts will fall for this minimalistic masterpiece in the southern Mallorcan countryside and anyone seeking a secluded, sun-filled break will find it in Villa Santanyi.

Situated on a 12ha estate, sheltered by almond trees and olive groves, the building’s striking, angular facade catches the eye with its blushing pink tones – a result of mixing local clay pigments with the plaster. Architects John Pawson and Claudio Silvestrin have created a curious interplay of light and geometry and, with five bedrooms pitched around a peaceful courtyard, the entire family can tag along. Blessed by the Mediterranean sun, slow-living awaits in these pared-back surroundings: float in the 30m infinity pool, hit tennis balls on the sunken court and stargaze from the rooftop terrace.

For day trips, the crystal-clear Balearic waters are just a ten-minute drive away.
