Village, Wat Bo Rd, Cambodia
The gateway to Cambodia’s
cultural heart, Siem Reap is awash
with historical temples and ruins,
colonial buildings and traditional
markets that bustle from dawn to
dusk. Hidden within this verdant
jungle-clad enclave is a wonder that needs no introduction: the
Unesco-listed Angkor Wat. And just
a 15-minute car journey from this
ancient site you’ll find Viroth’s Hotel
– a masterpiece in New Khmer
Architecture. Framed by leafy green
foliage, stepping inside reveals the
elegance of the Fifties era. With
35 spacious rooms, this pad feels
every bit boutique, with local crafts
– sculptures, ceramics and bold
canvases – lining neutral walls.
Some rooms offer views stretching
the 20m-long, palm-fringed pool
and all have terrazzo bathrooms and
a private terrace. Indoor-outdoor
living is encouraged, be it at the
season-led restaurant, spa or fitness
studio. After a day immersed in
culture or lapping up the sun, hit the
bar for tropical twists on classic
cocktails.
Doubles from £101.
