Getting back to nature is one thing; helping to preserve it for the future is quite another. Wilderness, the noted hospitality company that bring conservation to the fore, have reopened their camp in Namibia’s rugged Damaraland after an extensive rebuild. The focus of Wilderness Desert Rhino Camp is simple: safeguard the critically endangered black rhinos – one of the world’s last remaining free- roaming populations call this untamed area of Namibia home. The renovation has been refreshed by Migs + Drew architects for a contemporary feel that deepens the connection between man and land. New features include large, stretching fabric roof and local, natural materials of stone, timber and leather. Guests can actively support the conversation efforts while exploring the biodiversity of the region. Operating entirely on solar power, sustainability efforts continue in the kitchen too with regional produced beautifully showcased by chef Namwandi.
