Set your watch to island time

The palm-lined resort is aptly named after Charles Telfair, the acclaimed Northern Irish botanist who called this spot home at the turn of the 19th century, and while interiors mix barefoot beach-chic with the refined grandeur of a bygone era, lush garden views are never far from sight – and come perfectly framed by French-style bay windows. As a proud member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, exemplary service, world-class amenities and creature comforts are a given – think of your own private butler and spacious, all-suite living. With tranquil, turquoise waters, pristine white-sand shores and abundant jungle foliage, it will come as no surprise that Heritage Le Telfair is a haven of outstanding natural beauty, however it is the property’s rich culinary offerings that’s really making waves. With a string of exciting food-focused programmes taking place this year, there has never been a more ideal to book your sun-kissed gourmet adventure.

Delve into international flavour

Heritage Le Telfair has turned up the heat (and no, we don’t just mean the island’s tropical climate) – with 12 restaurants and eight bars, the resort is a bona fide gourmet hotspot. Whether you fancy Mauritian fine-dining at Heritage Le Chateau, the Pan-Asian dishes of Gin’Ja or are keen to take part in the interactive show kitchen at Annabelle’s, you’re sure to be spoilt for choice. Daytime calls for beach-side grilled feasts at Le Palmier or perhaps head to C Beach Club for fresh, zesty salads overlooking the Indian Ocean… and as the sun begins to set, grab a seat around the bonfire for succulent, flame-grilled fare at Le Boma in the neighbouring Heritage Awali. The perfect way to end the night? With a glass of aged Mauritian rum, of course. You’ll find a wealth of flavours across the board, and while each restaurant brings something unique to the table, they’re all underpinned by a shared ethos of excellent produce, locally sourced ingredients and sustainable practices that sets Heritage Le Telfair apart.

Franck Putelat

Discover a star-studded culinary programme

On top of all the mainstay gastronomic highlights, a roster of chef partnerships throughout the year champions the island’s bounteous natural larder and unique flavour further still. Join the two-Michelin-starred Chef Franck Putelat of Carcassonne’s La Table de Franck Putelat in November, as he cooks up inventive yet classic dishes honing in on fresh Mauritian ingredients. This is just a taste of what's to come, with more impressive chef collaborations to be announced shortly across Heritage Le Telfair and and Le Chateau de Bel Ombre.

Commencing 10 July 2023, Heritage’s Sustainable Gastronomy Week is one to mark in your calendars. Back for its second year, this edition is under the patronage of French Michelin-green-starred chef Thomas Collomb of contemporary La Table D’ Hôtes. The festival will shine a light on the superlative produce and highly talented chefs of the Bel Ombre region, bringing a true taste of Mauritius to the top table. Expect a plethora of exceptional dinning opportunities, cooking masterclasses and local market tours, plus a seven-course gala dinner at the farm-to-fork, Le Chateau de Bel Ombre.
